Build around one repeatable moment

The strongest-looking item combination is not always the strongest build. Start by naming the moment you want to win: a close-range trade, a ranged opening, a safe revive window, a rotation through danger, or the final escape.

Then select skills, weapons, and gear that make that moment more reliable. If a choice does not help your plan or cover a known weakness, it is usually the first thing to replace.

Use a low-risk and a committed version

Extraction games reward a loadout you can afford to lose. Keep a low-risk version of a build for learning routes and timings, then graduate to the more committed version when you understand where it earns its cost back.

This approach makes losses useful: you can change one variable at a time instead of guessing whether the class, gear, map, or decision failed you.

Choose a class-specific starting point

Start with a class-specific page when you want a repeatable first plan instead of an undated copy-paste build. Each guide below separates the weapon or style choice from the gear choices that need current-patch verification.

  • Mercenary — choose hammer burst or Sword & Shield tempo.
  • Seer — choose construct-led Reverent control or aggressive Blasphemer pressure.
  • Withered Knight — choose Greatsword punish windows or Polearm & Shield control.
  • Blackarrow — use range, ammunition choice, and interruption timing.
  • Sorcerer — choose faster Elemental casting or higher-commitment Stardust.
